HVCenergie

HVCenergie sells the electricity (and heat through MeerWarmte) released when waste is incinerated.

We believe in maintaining good relations with our customers and shareholders. To strengthen this relationship we have chosen to supply the electricity to our shareholders, to commercial waste contractors with whom we have an established relationship and to private individuals.

Attractive rates
HVCenergie has a simple pricing policy. This enables us to supply green electricity to our customers at attractive rates.

Green electricity
All the energy generated by burning waste avoids the use of fossil fuels. This makes it sustainable. Approximately half the waste consists of biomass. Electrical energy produced from biomass is known as green electricity.

Bioenergy plant
In addition, we have operated a bioenergy plant since December 2007. It produces 100% green electricity by burning treated waste wood in a fluidized bed incinerator. For this the Dutch Government issues us with Certificates of Origin.

All subsidiaries
By purchasing clean, sustainably generated electricity, municipalities can “green” their energy consumption. Many municipalities in North and South Holland and in Flevoland are already customers of HVCenergie. The same applies to all our subsidiaries.

103 megawatts
HVCenergie produces more than enough electricity to serve all its shareholders. The waste-to-energy plants in Alkmaar and Dordrecht are good for 78 MW. This is enough to supply power to 150,000 households. The bioenergy plant will have a capacity of 25 MW, enough to supply a further 60,000 households.

265,000 households
We are currently constructing a fifth incinerator line at the waste-to-energy plant in Dordrecht. Once this has been taken into operation, expected in 2009, the plant will be able to increase its production of electricity from 9.5 to 33 MW. The total production of electricity in Alkmaar and Dordrecht will then be sufficient to supply more than 265,000 households. That is enough for the population of a city the size of Rotterdam.
