The waste from North Holland and Flevoland is largely delivered to local waste transfer depots, where it is transferred for transportation in bulk.

From the transfer depots the waste is transported to the waste-to-energy plant in Alkmaar in trucks. For environmental reasons, the waste from Flevoland is transported by water in barges or ships. Combustible waste is processed in the waste-to-energy plant in Alkmaar, while organic waste is transported to the composting facilities in Purmerend and Middenmeer. 

HVCafvalcentrale Dordrecht processes household and commercial waste that is largely from the surrounding municipalities, but also commercial waste from outside this area.
