When waste is incinerated in a waste-to-energy plant, electricity and thermal energy are produced.

Approximately half the energy generated is released from the biogenic part of the waste (biomass). The Dutch Government issues Certificates of Origin for this, as it is regarded as green energy. 

MeerWarmte
A great deal of thermal energy can be recovered after power generation, and we use this to supply sustainable heat to the businesses in nearby Boekelermeer. We set up MeerWarmte to do this. MeerWarmte also supplies heat to the AZ football stadium in Alkmaar.
