Incineration & Energy Production

A proportion of the waste we take in is incinerated.

Only waste that is unsuitable for recovery or recycling is incinerated. This provides us with the fuel for our waste-to-energy plants in Alkmaar and Dordrecht. We use the heat to generate electricity: 60 MW in Alkmaar (enough for a city of 115,000 households) and 9.5 MW in Dordrecht.
