Our waste-to-energy plants in Alkmaar and Dordrecht regularly receive children in their final year from the primary schools in our catchment area.

We have created an educational project about rubbish for them. Approximately 8,000 schoolchildren from some 250 schools in North Holland and Flevoland visit us in Alkmaar each year. Children from South Holland – some 1800 from more than 60 different schools – visit the plant in Dordrecht. 

Guided tour
The children are made aware of the growing problem of waste and invited to think of solutions. The project concludes with a guided tour round the waste-to-energy plant. 

HVC bus
Since early 2007 children from Flevoland have been able to travel to Alkmaar in an HVC bus.
