HVC is a modern and innovative waste and energy company. The company is owned by 56 municipalities in North and South Holland, Flevoland and Friesland, and 5 water regulatory authorities. Our mission is to contribute to a sustainable living environment by providing environmentally responsible waste management services. To do this as well as possible, we strive to gain a firm grip on all aspects of the waste cycle.
We are constantly seeking to attain the highest possible environmental yield for the lowest possible price. We are keen to conduct an open dialogue about our activities with all interested parties.
A leading role
Since our incorporation as a waste company in the 1990s, we have sought to become a leading provider of waste management services in our catchment area. We provide waste collection, logistics, recycling, composting and incineration services and supply energy and heat. We believe it is important to be responsible when dealing with waste, which is why we invest in education to encourage waste prevention and waste sorting.
As waste flows have increased, so has the importance of integrated lifecycle management. We have therefore actively sought to expand our activities by collaborating with and investing in companies whose activities supplement our own.
Human health, the environment and the community
We are aware of our responsibility to human health, the environment and the community. That is why we strive to process waste responsibly and why we feel it is so important to limit as far as possible any nuisance our activities cause. Good communication with environmental groups, agricultural and horticultural organizations, and local residents are essential. Each year our business units open their doors to welcome thousands of visitors.

We want to get a grip on waste flows. On the one hand to reduce the burden on the environment and to promote sustainability, on the other hand to serve our shareholders. So we do our best to encourage prevention and sorting of waste flows at source. This ensures optimal sorting, the basis for good waste processing and effective recycling.

We also invest in innovation, both in terms of business processes and the corporate organization. We devote a great deal of attention to improving processes and – often in collaboration with others – technological innovations. In addition, we innovate within our own organization: gradual integration of subsidiaries and participating interests within the company makes us more efficient.
